The Conway Area Chamber of Commerce is leading a strategic planning process to develop a long-range plan for the future of Conway. Communities that thrive are those that drive job creation, offer a robust quality of place for residents and visitors, and have a developed and working strategic plan.
During August and September of 2020, the Chamber collected public input through a short, anonymous survey to identify priorities. We received 1,838 responses, a 31% increase over the 2010 effort that led to the creation of the Conway2025 strategic plan. Our steering committee has combed through the results and identified the following 14 priorities that we have grouped into "People" and "Places":
People
- Arts, Entertainment and Culture
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Education (PreK-12)
- Job Creation
- Poverty and Homelessness
- Public Safety
- Small Business and Entrepreneurship
Places
- Beautification
- Bicycle Paths and Trails
- Downtown Business District
- Land Use and Planning
- Parks and Recreation
- Public Transportation
- Streets, Sidewalks and Drainage
We are encouraged that 662 of the survey respondents indicated that they would like to volunteer to help with the plan. This is nearly double the number of people who signed up to help in 2010.
A series of community meetings to aid in the development of the plan is currently underway. We appreciate the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute for facilitating this part of the process.
